Popularly known as Datey College, the Babaji Datey Kala ani Vanijya Mahavidyalaya was started on 26th July 1959 with just 145 students. Today, the students strength exceeds 1,900.

The college is affiliated to Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University. The college is Government recognised and Government aided. The college has obtained B++ Accreditation from NAAC.
The college conducts courses for following
(a) Under-graduation (junior college – Commerce – English and Marathi Medium and Arts – English medium)
(b) Graduation in Arts , Commerce (Marathi and English medium) and Science (English medium)
(c) Post-graduation in Commerce and Arts (Political Science, Marathi and History)
(d) Higher secondary vocational courses after passing 10th matric examination.
College has obtained permission to start B Sc. (English Medium), B Com (English Medium) and MA (Political Science) (Marathi Medium) from 2024-2025.
The college has Girls’ Hostel with 150 capacity, well equipped library, Study rooms, Computer laboratory, fully furnished Auditorium, Geography and Home Economics Laboratories, Music rooms, NCC, NSS, gymnasium and play grounds. Two volleyball grounds and two kabaddi grounds with light facilities for playing in night are available.
The college has modern indoor and outdoor gymnasium.
